A twist

This morning was our appointment with the specialist up in Sacramento. We went in thinking, we would be able to get a simple blood test to determine if there are any genetic problems along with a quick ultrasound to see the chance of having a child with down syndrome.

We arrived at 8:45 in Sac...my appointment was scheduled at 9:30. 45 minutes in a waiting room is extremely long and tiring. (I actually almost fell asleep)

Little did we know...the appointment was going to be even longer, but its okay. Seeing the babies moving on the ultrasound machine is a miracle.

To begin with, I didn't need a blood test, (yes!) but I do know I will still have to have many.
(I hate my blood being drawn...the thought of a needle going into my arm does not appeal to me)

He was able to do a screening test on all the babies for down syndrome. He told us that they look normal and he has little concern for them to have down syndrome. (Hallelujah) We want healthy baby boys and girls.

Then he counted all the arms, heads, and legs and sure enough..we have three sets of each!

The doctor wanted to check each sack the babies were in. We told him that my previous Dr identified them as fraternal triplets. He did a "belly" ultrasound.

Baby A and B...always by each other

Baby A

Baby B: This baby is our thumb sucker!
Make way for braces in Junior high...yikes!

Baby C was very calm during the appointment today. I guess s/he likes the new ob...

So then came the new news...this whole time we thought we were having fraternal triplets. But...we learned we are having identical triplets. That means all boys or all girls. A couple of my friends have asked me how we feel about this...but to be honest...at every appointment we hear something new and shocking. So now we are at the point where nothing really shocks us anymore. He wanted to take a closer look so he used the internal ultrasound to make sure.
Baby A is at the bottom. Baby B is a little above and Baby C is sitting on top of Baby B's head...
This is the first ultrasound that all three babies are in since week 6...when they were the size of cheerios.

A normal baby has two sacks...each of our babies are in one sack with a big sack overlapping all...which means one egg divided three times...what other shocking news can we be told?

My next appointment is in three weeks. I'll be 15 weeks and 6 days...we should be able to find the sex out..Start making your guesses now...do we have three little hunters or three animal print gals?
I bet you know what I am banking on :)
