A small change

It's already has been a month of having to deal with a new illness.
But..this illness is one that is controlled with medicine.

On Thursday, we went back down to our neurologist at the children's hospital.
Austin was observed by his Dr.

He acted like he owned the place.

We received Austins EEG report from him.
As I read over his EEG report, it was hard to not picture our Austin in that traumatic state.

11:45- bicental temp sharps- rhymetic s/w of 2-3 hz, then fasted spikes at 5hz.  60sec long...
11:34- increased amplitude, central sharp forms, 15 sec.
head drops while sitting up, unresponsive
11:37- bilat arm and leg tremor, face twitch.
Austin experienced 35 seizures in 3 day.

I only typed some of what was on the report.
But every time I look at these pieces of papers,
all I feel is fear.
Especially now.

Austin's been doing great!
Prayers really help!
He has gotten almost all previous muscle movements back.
He's not running like he used to thou, but
we are pleased with the progress so far without intervention too!
My theory is...
That his brothers truly help.
He doesn't want to be left behind.

And since he is doing so great...his Dr is starting to wean him off tripletal.
We will reduce tripletal by 1 ml and keep keppra where its at.
In four months, Austin will be on just keppra if all goes well.

Today marks 24 hours of his meds being reduced and we are still seizure free.
I say that's quite a milestone for us!
Hopefully as the tripletal gets out of his system more, he stays seizure free.

Austin is such a character with a loving heart.
He is strong and determined in his own way.
He is observant and silly.
He is sweet and sensitive.
Austin reminds me to live in the moment.

We are thankful for all the prayers, thoughts and well wishes on this road of recovery.
