September 1

With a blink of an eye, its September.
September will always be a joyful month for the Becks.
September 1st marks the day that we brought Austin home from the NICU.

Austin's Last Picture in his Isolette.
Auntie Kenzie got him his shirt and little did he know that he is really not "one of a kind"
We miss you Kenzie and can't wait to see you soon!
Well..our home at the time was my Uncle Doug's RV in the hospital parking lot.
I remember it as if it was yesterday.
We signed discharge papers.
We made our way to the elevator with little Austin in his car seat and an accompanying nurse.
I remember Austin looking around as if he was saying,
"Where am I? Where am I going?"
The funny thing about John and I is that we were already parents.
It was almost a month of us being parents,
but our life was different.

Our babies lived in the NICU.
They were cared for round the clock by nurses who taught us how to care for preemies.
Let alone...tried to prepare us for whats to come!
It was okay if I slept through a fed because someone else was always with them.
But on 9/1/12...
It was our turn to be "real" parents.

After John and I got into the RV with Austin.
We took him out of his car seat and sat on the couch.
I was holding him and we both looked at each other and said at the same exact time...
"Now what?"

Now what?
I bet that goes through lots of new parents minds.
Now, I'm in charge of this little human being.
Now, I have to provide and take care of him.
I have to be the best mom or dad I can for him.
I. Can. Not. Fail. Him.

Today we celebrate a year of actually being responsible for Mr. Austin.
I couldn't imagine Austin not being one of the trio.
He compliments the other two.
He is the mama's boy who I've always wanted.
He is our smiley, happy, go lucky Austin.

Austin, we are glad you let us adjust with one baby
until your brother Logan came home.
Happy "Remembering Your Homecoming" Day Austin.
