I woke up around 4am on Saturday August 4th.
I was having contractions non-stop.
I called my nurse because I didn't know what to do.
Kim came in and said to lay on my side and try to relax...
then to call her back in a hour if the contractions didn't go away.
It was 8:00 and I was still contracting, but didn't call Kim...
I didn't want to bother my nurses unless it was something I couldn't handle on my own.
Our family started showing up for the main event.
My room was filled with love and joy as our family anticipated
the arrival of our boys!
Around 8:30 the doctor and anesthesiologist came in.
They discussed what was going to happen...
With all the excitement...the nurse was trying to take my blood pressure...
But it was high..
was it nerves of joy?
or nerves of scared?
nerves of needles?
All the above...
I was told to lie down and take deep breathes...
John and I took our last pregnancy picture together
9:00...
My labor and delivery nurse brought the gurney
that would be the last bed I laid on pregnant with our triplets.
As my request...
to calm my nerves...
the anesthesiologist gave me his version of a "margarita"
and as they wheeled me away...
my anxiety got to me..
I almost started to cry because of the unknown,
I almost started to cry because of the unknown,
but held those tears back...
As they wheeled me down the hall...
my margarita started to kick in...
I started feeling loopy and the walls looked extremely white...
I was wheeled in the OR where I was laying on a gurney...
the doctors and nurses were moving around in the room and I just looked everywhere
They were explaining what was going to happen...
Then came my worst fear...
the beginning of the spinal block.
A nurse helped me sit up and lean on her so they could find a good spot...
Then the first needle went in...
OUCH! but not too bad...just a little prick in the back
then they put the actual IV thingy in my back...
I started throwing from the medicine and complained about nausea to the anesthesiologist.
The John and my grandpa..Popsi came into the OR
Then the fun actually started...
the cutting, the pressure and the moving my tummy from side to side to get those babies out!
At 9:20 Little Aiden Gregory Beck was born...
He weighed 4 pounds 02 ounces...1819 grams
16 3/4 inches tall.
Aiden had 1 clip to identify him of baby A.
All I thought when Dr. Veille said here comes the babies was...
Will he cry? Will he cry?
Then I heard little Aiden cry..and said..
aww...he cried...he will be okay
Shortly after...Dr. Veille said...second baby coming right up!
at 9:20..Austin Nicholas Beck was born.
He followed his brothers weight of 4 pounds 02 ounces...1819 grams
but he was 17 1/4 inches tall.
Again..would he cry?
Then I heard the cry and again said
he cried...he will be okay!
The two little clips on his umbilical cord is what identified him as Baby B..
B- for two clips...
Dr. Veille said that my uterus started to contract so they needed to get out Logan as soon as possible, but he was tucked all the way up high under my chest...
With pushing and pressure and moving...
finally at (seemed like forever but really only a minute)
9:21...
Logan Christopher Beck
made his debut...
He weighed 3 pounds 10.3 ounces...1652 grams
He was 16 inches tall.
Again..Logan had 3 clips to identify him as Baby C.
Did Logan Cry too like his brothers?
YES!
All was right in the world...we had our three boys..
with good strong lungs (thank goodness for steroid shots)
and good weights.
Then...Dr Veille said...OOOO!!! I see another baby!
I said NO!!! No more Babies! We only have three not four!
And everyone laughed!
Due to their premature size..they were taken to get assessed and measured...
John went with the babies and Popsi stayed with me.
They were all given CPAP bubbles to help with their respiratory issues...
Aiden...1 clip
They were also put on heart, oxygen and respiratory monitors...
As each baby was brought to my bedside for me to see...we sang happy birthday to each one except for Austin...
I started to throw up again when it was his turn..so Sorry Austin you got cheated out that time, but later we sang to him!
I was left in the OR getting stitched up and cleaned up..
I kept telling the anesthesiologist that he was good at his job.
Once they finished up with me..I went into the recovery room where I was even more loopy..
Popsi stayed by my side as I transitioned off the margarita and spinal block.
All I wanted was water..my mouth was dry,
my lips were dry..
Finally my nurse brought me ice chips and I was the happiest girl!
I kept telling the nurse that I had boot on my feet and she needed to take them off..
My feet felt like they weighed 1000 pounds!
Proud grandpa and great grandpa here!
Next Dr. Veille brought me my placenta...
Since we were sending it off the UCSF...
I wanted to see what it looked like and why it was so special!
Man! This thing is amazing...I still can't stop looking at pictures
and talking about how amazing it is.
I have a bunch of pictures...I kept telling John to snap, snap and snap more pictures of it!
I was very proud of that placenta!
But here are a few...
John was one proud daddy...They stamped Austins and Logans feet on his arm...
Poor Little Aiden was being taken care of because he decided to poop in his sack
so he had meconium aspiration...
They wheeled me into each of the babies rooms so I could see them...
So from there...I was on the road to recovery...
I stayed in bed all night long until 9:00pm.
I was able to get in and get wheeled chaired to the NICU...
I wanted to go with Krisin, (my cousin) and John...
I wanted to go with Krisin, (my cousin) and John...
I saw our boys for the first time without being on drugs...
and couldn't believe that three of them lived in me the past eight months...
They have long fingers and feet like their daddy!
I was excited to see Logan and Austin off CPAP bubbles already and to be able to touch their little fingers...
They knew I was their mommy from the start...
Its now has been a week and one day...
They are 7 days old!
So much has changed in seven days!
All three babies are off CPAP bubbles fully...
No more IV fluids or starters in their hands...
We are experimenting with their little tummies to see if they are lactose intolerance....
they keep throwing up mine and donors breast milk.
They are growing into their skin...
They know their mommy and daddy..
They open their eyes when we talk to them...
and...
my favorite...
They love being held skin to skin!
We are truly blessed and this long road has finally come to an end...
Now our journey through the NICU is beginning to start...
Thanks for the prayers during the pregnancy..
Please continue to pray for our boys as they grow and gain weight...
I want to bring them home soon!
God is Good!!!
